Happy 2010

Happy New Year Everyone!!!
Okay, so I am 22 days late, but better late than never.

Let's see, what have we been up to so far in 2010? We went to Creston for the Christmas holidays and came home New Year's Eve. We had planned to go to our friend's house for a party, but it took us nearly 9 hours of driving so we were spent by the time we got home. We rang in the New Year sleeping soundly and snoring loudly.

Since then we have been getting back into the routine of getting up early...no more sleeping in :( ...and getting the kids to school, gymnastics, and karate.

Last night there was a movie night at Amber's school "Ice Age 3". We all went as a family (in our pj's...so fun!) and enjoyed ourselves. Last year when we went Amber won a door prize and this year Boston won a prize (he got a gold coin in his popcorn!) Boy, they sure can't stay up late like they used to, especially Amber. The movie was over around 8:45pm and both kids were snoozing on the drive home!

Today was a day of "getting things done" around the house. I know, I know, not so exciting. But I enjoy decluttering, reorganizing, and rearranging...it gives me a "freeing"sense. And Bibles for Missions will be happy when I drop off a couple of bags of goodies too! I finally got my published layout framed and now I want to hang it in my scrapbooking room, but I fear that banging a nail in the wall at 10pm would wake my kiddies so I have to put that off 'til morning.

So...now Kari and Suzann, you can get off my back about updating my blog ;P I said I started a blog, I never said that I would update it hahaha.

Hope you are having a great Saturday night!

Getting Ready for Christmas

Gosh, has it really been THAT long since I last wrote something?! I guess starting a blog right before Christmas wasn't the smartest thing for me to do. Nevertheless, here I am.

Wow, one week until Christmas Eve...how exciting! I just finished off the cards I need to mail and yes, I am late this year. But funny enough I don't care! Usually I would be stressing as I haven't gotten my cards mailed out in the first week of December. But I am really trying to be more laid-back this year. Let's see how long it lasts :)

This week has been extremely busy with school activities and volunteering. Monday was skating and Karate, Wednesday was pancake breakfast and Gingerbread Houses, tomorrow is last day with teacher gifts and parties.

Tonight I am going out for dinner with my girlie-friends...our monthly scrapbooking group's annual Christmas dinner together. I am SO looking forward to it! I haven't seen them all since, gee, Saturday! hahaha It was our monthly games night and I wasn't in my best form either since I had a few too many Screwdrivers that evening. I haven't gotten tipsy in a very, very long time! Those friends of mine...bad influences, all of them!!!

Time to get some work done...always something to do!!!

Ok...so how many days is too many days to spend with my friends in a 7 day period???

Fri, Nov 20: Mark, the kids and I went to the huge Craft Fair at 5pm with Debby (& family) and Kari (& family); then to Debby's to play games until midnight
Tue, Nov 24: Went to M.O.M.S. with Catherine, Kari, Debby, and Tara
Wed, Nov 25: Went to Debby's for coffee for 2 hours in the afternoon; that evening went out for supper and to the movie with Suzann, Catherine, Debby, Kari, and Tara
Fri, Nov 27: Went out shopping with Kari, Debby, and Tara for a couple of hours

I wonder how long my hubby will put up with this :) ???

I am SUPER excited for Debby...she was notified today that her layout will be on the cover of Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine. We were actually on the phone together today when she got the e-mail notification. Yay!!! Congrats, my friend!!!

Boston got to dress up like a pirate for pre-school today.
He couldn't decide between the pirate hat and the do-rag (but seriously, he looks cute either way, don't you think???)
Gosh, I can't believe it is report card time already! I am so proud of Amber...her teacher said that in Grade One the Level of reading is usually between 2 and 5 and Amber is at a Level 11!!! That totally blows me away! I know she is a good little reader, but I had no idea how good. Must get all those brains from her Mommy ;)

I have to share a sweet conversation I had with Boston yesterday. He approached me in the afternoon and said, "Mommy, I have figured out what I want to be when I grow up!" Curious (as last week he said he wanted to be an adult when he grew up) I said, "Oh, what would that be, Buddy?" and he replied, "Santa's elf! His top elf so I can ride in the sleigh with him". "That's great, what a good job that would be!" I said. He paused for a minute, thinking, and then said, "How can I practice being an elf for when I grow up?" So, seizing this perfect opportunity, I replied, "Well, you can start by helping a lot more around the house... Santa's elves are super helpers!" The rest of the day I couldn't stop the boy from cleaning up and doing jobs around the house. I've really got to seize more moments like those!!!

My Very First Post

Well, here I am and I said I would never become a blogger! I can't even imagine anyone would want to read what I have to say on a continual basis...!? But I shall do this for my parents who are far, far away in Arizona and for my friends who have asked if I blog.

I will begin by saying I had a great time last night with some of my friends. We all went to dinner and the movie "New Moon". Yes, there were 6 of us middle-aged women oggling over Jacob the werewolf. I was saddened when in one scene he was actually wearing a t-shirt...what's up with that??? :)
I didn't get home until midnight and was extremely wretched this morning getting up with the kids. However, I would do it all over again with my girls as they totally keep me young at heart ;P
Anyhow, it has taken me a while to figure all this stuff out so I will have to continue my "blogging" another day (hopefully tomorrow!) as it is once again nearly midnight (oh no, 2 nights in a row!)
